Herbosch-Kiere Marine Contractors Ltd completed a major refurbishment project at Grimsby Fish Dock, located at the Port of Grimsby. The works formed part of a wider initiative to modernise the port’s vessel repair facilities in support of the offshore wind industry and to stimulate local economic growth.
The project involved the complete overhaul of the existing vessel repair facilities at Port of Grimsby East. Central to the works was the refurbishment of the 80-year-old slipways and the installation of a new 200-tonne marine hoist. Standing nearly 17 metres high and over 11 metres wide, the hoist is capable of lifting almost any vessel able to pass through the dock’s lock gates.
This upgrade significantly enhanced the port’s capability to service and maintain offshore support vessels, reinforcing Grimsby’s role as a key hub for the offshore renewables sector.
